To mark its 110th anniversary, the famous house of La Cornue is launching a new assortment of accessories made by the finest French manufacturers.
La Cornue, which is among the galaxy of traditional brands known worldwide, is this year celebrating 110 years of making stoves and ovens. Launched in 1908 by Albert Dupuy and still helmed by the founder’s descendants, the brand, considered the crème de la crème of superlative kitchen ranges, also continues to manufacture its Château and Mémoire kitchen units and Flamberge rotisseries. A dazzling symbol of French expertise, each kitchen range is an original work handmade in the workshops in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône (northwest of Paris), put together with panache and extreme care. Listed, naturally, as a “Living Heritage Company” (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant), La Cornue has joined forces with three other similarly honored companies to concoct a collection of culinary accessories embodying the same values as their iconic stoves.
As a result, you can now have a kitchen that’s better equipped than that of a top chef. Whip up a menu of fruit and veggies on a smooth Chabret chopping block as thick as a T-bone steak, made from a majestic piece of endgrain hornbeam or walnut; the flip side has juice grooves for carving meat. When it comes to cutting, slicing and trimming, nothing beats Perceval knives, made in Thiers out of the company’s own triple A steel (nothing to do with the 5A label for the best tripe sausage). There’s the perfect knife for carving lamb and a carving fork that’s second to none for poultry. As for the paring knife, it’s up to any task. Set and match is their razor-sharp collection in African blackwood. When it comes to their textile range, La Cornue has woven its spell with Le Jacquard Français for a line of indispensable pure cotton accessories, from dish towels to oven mitts and aprons with leather ties. Colors that match the stoves, stoves that match the colors . . . With La Cornue, elegance in the kitchen is a piece of cake.
